Access denied! That’s how I feel when it comes to relationships of the opposite sex. No matter what I do, I’m never successful at attracting the right guy. Maybe I stink. The verse above from Matthew always challenges me to rise above my selfishness and give it to Jesus.

Relationships are just one issue twentysomethings face that can get in the way of following Jesus. What about career and finances or identity and purpose? These seem to be the biggest problems I face daily.

Whenever I’m wrestling with denying myself, I usually take offense. I want to hold on to the problem instead of “taking up my cross.” What does that mean anyway? Jesus was crucified, and we have to be too? That sounds like an awful statement.
