Don’t Lose Heart
Series: Faithbook of Jesus Devotional
Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.
— 2 Corinthians 4:1
Moses is one person in the Bible who tried to accomplish what he knew God wanted him to do — but he tried it his way first and got himself in real trouble.
Moses tried to settle an argument between an Israelite and an Egyptian slave driver. He ended up killing the Egyptian. He didn’t think anyone would find out. He probably thought he was being a hero at the time, but God had bigger plans. When people discovered what Moses had done, he fled for his life and spent forty years being prepped in the desert for his true calling.
Spending time in the desert is not glamorous. It’s tediously long. How many of us are in a season of waiting? Working toward a degree? Married with young children? Single and waiting? After a while we grow restless. It becomes dull and routine. Some of us resign and make ourselves comfortable.
