Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?”

Israel’s king, Amaziah, was twenty-five years old and about to go into battle. The Bible says he followed the Lord, but not wholeheartedly. When the man of God told him to let his soldiers go, Amaziah was faithful because he knew God was on his side.
I can relate. I try too hard to get what I want. What Jesus was really saying was, “Even if you go and fight courageous in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow” (2 Chronicles 25:8).
Amaziah even paid a hundred talents of silver (let’s say $100 in our day) to hire soldiers to fight on his behalf. But the man of God told Amaziah God didn’t need his money and could do so much more.
