Each of the four gospels mentions at least once that if we want to be first, we must be last. For most of us, that is too difficult to fathom.
Every day I allow a little road rage, the corporate ladder, or my own insecurities to keep me from humbling myself before Jesus. It isn’t until I read verses like Luke 14:11 that I even think about humility. I may be bored with my current circumstances, but that doesn’t mean I’m humble and content. My favorite example on humility is found in Luke 14:8-11:
When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited.
