The phrase “missionary dating” applies when a Christian pursues a relationship with someone of a different faith. This is a hot topic today, just as it was in biblical times. Paul said that we are not the same as those who do not believe. So do not join your- selves to them. Good and bad do not belong together. Light and darkness cannot share the same space (see 2 Corinthians 6:14).

In the Old Testament, the Israelites were commanded not to intermarry with other nations (see Deuteronomy 7:3; Joshua 23:12-13; 1 Kings 11:2; Ezra 9:14). The main reason the Lord commanded them not to “missionary date” was because “they will surely turn your hearts after their gods” (1 Kings 11:2).
