I hope everyone had a sweet Valentine's and even if you spent it differently than you wished, I hope the season spurred you on to recenter your heart in God's love for you!

I wanted to share a few ''Love-ish'' thoughts with you this morning.

Valentine's is a time I like to reorient myself in Christ's love. So I wanted to share a few ''love-ish'' thoughts with you about centering our hearts in God's love.

1. First let's read a few challenging thoughts from Amy Carmichael about love.

As you are getting your quotes all ready, in case you don't know who Amy Carmichael was, she was a missionary to India in the early part of the 1900's helping orphans and women. She wrote a small but very convicting book (among others) titled IF. I love reading this book a few times a year because it's like guard-rails on my heart, keeping me on my knees and reminding me how short my love comes to the love Christ has for me.

This morning we will get a taste treat of a few words from that very book.

I truly believe God does not expect us to display what we have not come to experience through Him. He does not expect us to love like Him until we've tasted His love for ourselves. So finding ways to reconnect and recenter our hearts in His love is crucial for us! It's also more than OK to come before our Father in heaven and ask Him to let us experience His love afresh so we might have it to pour out on others.

2. Another good way to stay centered in His love is by having the verses that speak His love to us handy.

Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:8

Sometimes we just need to hear God say it, and that means digging into His word. I've got a love letter from His word (Love Letter from God's Word PDF), some of you might have already gotten it from me, but it's paraphrased verses to remind you of His love for you.

Would my sisters with the love verses read them aloud now?

{The ladies with the verses get to read them now}

Psychologists have told us that for every negative commentary we hear, we need at least three positive comments to bring us out of a negative perspective into a balanced one--not even a positive, hopeful one. So, if we are to shore up a loving, gracious attitude we have got to stay saturated in the Lord's loving words because we receive way too many negative, unloving words, looks, etc. I want God's love to flow abundantly out of me, not a tiny trickle, a real fl ...
