Series: Faithbook of Jesus Devotional
Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.
— 2 Corinthians 2:14
Paul wrote to the Corinthians that Jesus leads in victory. He does not lead by fear, discouragement, or failure.
Life is typically full of defeat, so I tend to think Jesus leads through fear, but this is not true. “But thanks be to Jesus, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ” (2 Corinthians 2:14, emphasis added).
A triumphal procession means forward movement. Jesus does not leave you or me stuck where we are. Through victory in Jesus, we always move forward. Through pain of divorce, markets collapsing, job layoffs, and loneliness, we are not left alone. Praise Jesus that he leads us on.
As we learn how to walk victoriously, we also smell. What? You heard me! You smell. Paul also wrote to the Corinthians that through our victory we spread a fra- grance of the knowledge that Jesus saves.
