Renee Fisher lives with her husband, Marc, in Escondido, California, where she writes and creates and spurs others forward.
Under the name Renee Johnson, she launched a blog DevotionalDiva.com. When Renee launched Devotional Diva®, she felt weird. It seems the name sounded like a lady in her 50s from Texas with big hair.
Renee is none of these things!
However, Renee’s sure glad she listened to her mentor, Marcia Ramsland, because within 3 months of launching the site — her agent and publisher found her through Twitter. Then she wrote and published Faithbook of Jesus (NavPress, 2010) within the year (thanks Marcia)!
When Marc came along, the rest was history. Renee was single 12 years, 10 months and 24 days to the day she believed God promised her a husband to the day Marc proposed. Under the name Renee Fisher, she wrote four more books: Not Another Dating Book (Harvest House, 2011), Loves Me Not (eBook, 2013), Forgiving Others, Forgiving Me (Harvest House, 2013), and Dream Devotional (eBook, 2014).
Since 2008, Renee has been writing and speaking full time. In addition to her position as a columnist for Good News, etc, she has written features for publications such as Catalyst, Faithlife Women, Good Women Project, iBelieve, ilovedevotionals.com, Incourage, New Living Translation Blog, POTSC, RELEVANT Magazine, Start Marriage Right, and Ungrind. Renee is the Creator of Quarter Life Conference, an online event for the 20 & 30-somethings, and is always looking for relevant speakers.
Renee hasn’t always been just a writer. She originally went to college to become a high school math teacher. After she got her first “C” in Calculus 2, she decided–maybe math wasn’t for her. Her boss at Good News, etc gave her the opportunity to become a columnist, completed the (two year) Jerry B. Jenkins Christian Writers Guild, and then she started a blog on blogspot called more words than websiter. In 2006, she returned to college and finished her degree through Biola University. In 2009, Renee left her position at Outreach Events after booking over 300 events with speakers like Josh McDowell, Kirk Cameron, and Lee Strobel to pursue writing and speaking full time.
She has a passion for 20-somethings, singles, and women. She has traveled around the United States encouraging others in their relationship with Christ.
Renee speaks at churches and small groups on topics of:
+ fostering a devotional life
+ mental health (since she struggles with anxiety)
+ social media & ministry
+ Pursuing Dreams & Dreaming BIG
