Unbelief Is a Killer

“O unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you and put up with you?”
— Luke 9:41
No one likes to look bad in front of his or her boss. In the verse above, the disciples were ratted out in front of Jesus and the crowds. The boy’s father said, “I begged your disciples to drive [the evil spirit] out, but they could not” (Luke 9:40).
Talk about a bad day at the office. The disciples’ unbelief almost caused a death. The man’s father was desperate. The evil spirit seized his boy, causing him to scream and convulse until he foamed at the mouth. There was no relief in sight, and it was killing him.
Unbelief has been killing man since the very beginning.
