Sometimes we please people because we don’t want to rock the boat. Letting others down can be excruciating, especially if their influence means something. It’s easier to say “yes” and go with the flow instead of breaking the tide of people’s expectations of you. Have you noticed it’s sometimes easier to make new friends? They don’t judge you based on the old you!
When Peter saw Jesus walking on water, he didn’t care about anyone else; he just wanted to please Jesus. Peter asked Jesus to command him to get out of the boat. Jesus answered and commanded him to come. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water toward Jesus (see Matthew 14:29).
