When I need to get rid of the bad in my life, I reread James 1:21. Moral filth, as James called it, looks like bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander, every form of malice, and filthy language (see Ephesians 4:31; Colossians 3:8).
Getting rid of all those things can be quite painful.
