The economy sucks. And I know California is not the only state in the United States that is experiencing skyrocketing layoffs, fluctuating gas prices, and financial uncertainty.
Until recently, I had never experienced such economic turmoil firsthand. Then, to top it all off, my health started failing me. I watched as more than half of my small group was laid off, fired, or unable to find a job . . . and then found myself in a similar situation, not knowing what to do with my life.
Because of the insta-community we share, we have pooled enough resources to help tide each other over. I recommended a friend for a seasonal job at the company where I work, helped my co-leader with his résumé, and encouraged another friend through her move, and that’s just a drop in the bucket.
