Whenever I am looking for a sign, I read Judges 6. Gideon was a man handpicked by God to lead the people of Israel into battle. When an angel showed up, Gideon was hiding wheat inside a winepress to keep it from the enemy.
The angel said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior” (verse 12). But Gideon argued with the angel. He said, “Sir . . . if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? . . . How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family” (verses 13,15).
