Fruit grows on trees. Most of them do anyway; some of them grow on a vine. What does it take for fruit to grow? It takes water, soil, sustenance, sunlight, and pruning.
Practically speaking, what does that look like in our own lives? What is the water, soil, and sunlight in our lives? Trials. Jesus allows trials in our lives to help build our character and make us “sugar baby sweet” (a term my mom came up with to describe ripe watermelon).
We don’t just become “loving” overnight. Joy comes out of an abundance of remaining in the vine. A harvest of peace grows when we submit our will to Jesus. The same goes for the other fruits of the Spirit.
