One hindrance that can easily bring us down is our pride and confidence in what we can do in our own strength (or flesh). Paul talked about this confidence n Philippians 3:4. He said if anyone should boast, it should be him.
Paul was born of rank. He studied under the smartest teacher and knew more Scriptures than anyone else. But he said that whatever he once thought was his profit, he now considered loss for the sake of knowing Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior (see Philippians 3:7).
Is it wrong to put confidence in what you can do? Jesus has given us many choices. We can make decisions and goals and then go after them. But too often the line between self-reliance and healthy ambitions becomes blurred.
