Imagine a rotting corpse for a moment. That’s gross. Unconfessed sin eats away at your flesh. Disgusting, right? Horrific. David talks about this in Psalm 32.
Sometimes we hold things in. I know I’m guilty of that. I hold everything in until it catches up to me. “Then I acknowledged my sin to you [ Jesus] and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’— and you forgave the guilt of my sin” (Psalm 32:5). Unconfessed sin comes in all forms: the body bag of anger, the bitter route of strife, slander dripping with disdain, chewy morsels of gossip. The list can go on and on. What a release to be honest about our sin.
