Bear in mind that the Lord has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where he is on the seventh day; no one is to go out.

You might be wondering why I decided to write Friday’s note on the Sabbath? Why not post it for the weekend? The original Sabbath started at sundown, Friday evening.

In the Hebrew language, Sabbath or Shabbat means “to cease work.”7 I love this verse.“Nooneistogoout.”Thatmeantoneoftwothings:(1)TheIsraeliteslovedtheir football games, or (2) they rested well.

I have a feeling it was probably the second one. No, but seriously, the Israelites camped in the desert more than forty years, and they needed help to rest. If anyone tried to gather manna (bread from heaven) on the Sabbath, he wouldn’t find any because there was none on the ground.
