Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines harbor as “a place of security and comfort: refuge.”8 Jonah probably thought he was fleeing to the harbor for a place of refuge, but fleeing from Jesus? Come on, Jonah! Don’t be stupid.
How easy is it for us to be like Jonah? Jesus told Jonah to “go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it” because its wickedness had reached all the way up to heaven ( Jonah 1:2). But Jonah ran away.
