I’ve had a few crushes in my lifetime. Crushing feats and disappointments. But rising through the ashes became my greatest accomplishment. I never thought I would graduate college, have a career, and make it past my twenty-fifth birthday. Now what?
My mom gave me a Bible when I was in the hospital. I chose to read through it for one year. During that year, Jesus took the crushed pieces of my life, showed me his scars and nail-pierced hands, and exchanged everything I had for his grace and mercy.
Living life with a crushed spirit is not fun. It’s scary to think that everything you’ve worked so hard for, such as a career or a savings account, can be gone because of a trial. I’ve had to start over not once but three different times.
I’m still a work in progress. I’ve seen Jesus fix my problems. The worst part is the waiting. I know God can heal me, and when he chooses not to and makes me wait, I feel even more devastated. Why is it that a God who loves me doesn’t heal me?
