Money cannot satisfy; it doesn’t grow on trees. True love has its flaws. Our fancy cars break down; they need routine tune-ups. Houses can be broken into and our valuables stolen. Jobs don’t guarantee a substantial income anymore, and a degree doesn’t guar- antee us a great job. We tear each other apart sometimes, for we all sin and fall short of the glory of God.
So how do we respond? This verse doesn’t exactly leave us with hope. Paul’s response to missing the mark (the literal meaning of sin) also comes from Romans 3. He wrote, “This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference” (Romans 3:22, emphasis added).
